Our FAQs

  • Q) How do I know the Grandchild Connection System will work for me?

    A) The Grandchild Connection System was developed for grandparents by grandparents. We have experienced, first hand, the delight on the faces of our own grandchildren, and you can, too, when you join the countless other Connected Grandparents already developing deep emotional bonds with their grandkids!

  • Q) I speak with my grandchildren by telephone, but the calls never last very long. They seem to lose interest and wander away, literally leaving me hanging! How can the Grandchild Connection System help me?

    A) Telephone calls can be problematic. Kids of today are more accustomed to watching television and videos, than to communicating by voice alone. By VideoVisiting, you become an entertainer! Your grandchild will look forward to seeing your face and to seeing what fun activity you have planned for him today! In fact, won’t you be thrilled the first time you hear that he asked to spend time with you!

  • Q) My grandchildren are spread from one side of the country to the other, and my son is stationed in Germany with his family. Can Grandchild Connection really bring us together?

    A) When you tap into all of the wonderful activities that the Grandchild Connection System has to offer, you’ll be amazed at how engaged your grandchildren will be. You’ll share charming original eBooks, exciting movies, and play challenging interactive games that are sure to keep the little ones entertained and asking for more Grandma Time.

  • Q) My very first granddaughter is already two years old and next summer I will finally meet her for the first time. I am worried that she won’t know me. Any advice?

    A) Congratulations on being a grandparent! You can soothe your anxiety by starting to VideoVisit with your granddaughter right now! When grandparents are separated from their grandchildren, nothing can be more upsetting to both than the awkward “getting-to-know-you” time that often happens during in-person visits. VideoVisits will bridge the distance, enhance her recognition of you, and before long, she’ll be asking to “play with Nana!” across the miles. When you finally see her next summer, the transition time is eliminated because she will already know you, and you can dive right in to all the things that make those rare in-person visits really special.

  • Q) How do I register for the Grandchild Connection?

    A) Just click on the Register button. You can enter your contact information, and for a limited time, we’ll send you a free gift just for registering! And if you Tell a Friend from the same page, we’ll send them a gift, too!

  • Q) Is my personal information secure? Is my grandchild’s?

    A) Grandchild Connection does not distribute your information to any third party sources. For information, please see our Privacy Policy.

  • Q) Can I invite more than one grandchild to my VideoVisit?

    A) Yes, you can VideoVisit with as many as three grandchildren!

  • Q) Are there any additional costs to having a VideoVisit? Is there a time limit?

    A) No. Once you pay for your subscription, there are no additional costs associated with VideoVisits. The software is free and, if you have your computer set up with a camera and an Internet connection, the visit is absolutely free. It actually costs less than making a long distance phone call, and you can stay on as often, and as long, as you like.

  • Q) How soon will I receive my grandchild's customized song?

    A) You can expect to receive your custom ShowTune™ after purchasing the Grandchild Connection full Subscription Package. We’ll email you a ShowTune™ questionnaire with simple questions about your grandchild and once we receive the completed questionnaire, we’ll mail a CD package to you in 3 to 4 weeks.

  • Q) Is the Grandchild Connection System Difficult to learn? What are the age groups that the Grandchild Connection System appeals to?

    A) Not only is it easy, it’s fun for you and for your grandchildren, especially those between the developmental ages of three months through 10 years old.

  • Q) Do I need any special equipment?

    A) If you are using a Mac computer with iSight or a PC with built-in camera and microphone, you won’t need any additional equipment. If your computer does not have a built-in camera and microphone, then you will need to add a webcam, and an external microphone and speakers or a headset. In our General Store, we have made suggestions for camera, microphones, speaker, lighting, and any other accessory you will need to prepare for your VideoVisit.

  • Q) What type of Internet connection do I need?

    A) For the best possible quality, you’ll want a high-speed connection. You will need both high speed download and upload capabilities. The faster the speed, the better the video quality.

  • Q) What type of computer do I need?

    A) A Mac by Apple has all the components for an instant video conference built into it, including iChat. It is user friendly and makes a VideoVisit™ carefree. However, if you have a PC with Skype, you may use it with a web cam, microphone, and speakers.

  • Q) I’m pretty new to computers. Do I need to be a computer wiz to get started?

    A) Not at all! If you can turn your computer on, we offer easy to follow technical advice to get you started enjoying VideoVisits™ right away. There’s nothing to download, upload, or otherwise-load! And if you have any questions at all, you can call us and we’ll make sure that you speak to a real live person. In fact, when you become a Connected Grandparent, we’ll give you great personal customer service, and, if your question is very technical in nature, you’ll receive two solid hours of free technical assistance.
